Ethical Statement

Complex neurological diseases are a great burden for our society and rob patients of their personality. It is unfortunately impossible to conduct meaningful drug discovery without the use of disease models, including in conscious animals. SynAging is committed to animal welfare by providing quality care to our animals.

SynAging is living the 3Rs:

  • We Replace animal research with in vitro cultures as much as possible.
  • We Reduce the number of animals to the minimum possible to still obtain relevant results
and optimize experiments to obtain more information from the same animals.
  • We Refine experiments, to make sure animals suffer as little as possible, usually not at all.

All projects performed at SynAging are reviewed by an ethical committee before submission to authorities in order to get approval and are conducted in accordance with the European Directive 2010/63/EU and the French legislation.
